We visited the Imax at Darling Harbour in December 2012. We enjoyed a late night showing of Skyfall. This is the largest Imax screen in the world at 75 ft. Seats are comfortable. Theatre was pretty empty at 10 pm. It is pricey, but we figured we wouldn't be back and might as well enjoy the experience.

I attended on the second last day before closure out of nostalgia and there won't be anything like it again until it reopens in 2019. The place was crowded with plenty of people doing the same thing and the gigantic screen with stadium seating will be sorely missed.

Some inefficient teenagers run the business in a typical teenage fashion - nice and courteous, but unhelpful. I missed the show because of their poor explanations and their assumptions that everyone knows everything. They did refund me though.

We loved seeing the film on such a huge screen, really made the watching the film special in 3D. Really great show, as everyone else has said. But also as everyone else has said, badly organised with a huge queue to get in as there was only one person handing out 3D glasses through one entrance. Also, huge queue for... More

This Cinema has the world largest IMAX screen, which guarantees an awesome movie watching experience. With more than 30$ per ticket it is definitely not the cheapest but worth if you watch a 3D movie here. The latest movie I watched here was Star Trek Beyond in 3D, what an incredible experience. Would definitely recommend to watch every 3D movie... More

The IMAX is right in the centre of things in Darling Harbour. Steeply seated with the worlds biggest iMax cinema. Expensive I think they charge 35 dollars per person but look out for groupon which gets you admission for half the price. Beware though they will not allow you to use vouchers for the first 10 days of any film.... More

The biggest screen ever! Star Trek was in 3D, the glasses supplied were clean and free of fingerprints!, comfy chairs and plenty of legroom. We sat right in the middle and it was loud! made you feel like you were part of the movie!!

Saturday night and a full house in opening week for DC's latest, Suicide Squad in 3D. It was fantastic! My son chose the best seats in the house J32 and J33, and super value via Groupon of $15 per ticket with a small online booking fee (and 3D glasses included). Only negatives were a jam packed foyer and major queue... More

We went today and saw the movie 'Suicide Squad'. The screen was huge! The sound was loud. I did find the seats a little cosy. My husbands drink would not fit in the drink holder so that was a little annoying, they should only sell what fits. But the screen size lives up to its hype. Amazing!

Staying in Darling Harbour

Neighbourhood Profile
Darling Harbour
The original docklands of Darling Harbour have been transformed into a tourist mecca with entertainment for the whole family. Cockle Bay Wharf offers dining options from budget to upscale and million dollar views of the harbour. Young crowds gather on weekends for nightlife that ranges from salsa clubs to Dj’s. Families can visit the Chinese Gardens of Friendship or the Sydney Aquarium, one of the largest in the world. The Sydney Maritime Museum and the IMAX theatre are also popular attractions. The Harbourside Shopping Centre is a site unto itself, with hundreds of shops, restaurants and bars. On Saturdays in the summer, the city puts on a spectacular fireworks show along the harbour's shore and there are plenty of other free events during the year - Darling Harbour Fiesta, VIVID’s light installations and the Sydney Festival, just to name a few.
