Your host is Richard Everett, the only Oenologist (or winemaker) conducting a small group or private wine tour of the Hunter Valley Wine Country. His guests get a unique behind the scenes insight into how the best wines of the Hunter Valley are made, with private guided tastings of the top wines at the best & most interesting of the 140+ wineries. Richard conducts the wine tastings, not the sales staff at the wineries, so you are spared the heavy sales pitch of their commercial wines & get to experience many wines not offered to the general public. Morning tea is at the famous Peppers Guesthouse & lunch is at the award winning Muse Cafe. Tours are available ex Sydney or from within the Hunter Valley.

My wife and I just spent ten hours with Ricard and every minute led to learning about a new aspect of wine, wine production, wine marketing, and Australian life in general. The value of a personal, not larger group, tour was so obvious as we had the opportunity of an extensive conversation with Ricard and benefitted hugely from his personal... More

Being a wine nerd with well above average knowledge about wine I could certainly benefit from Richard's vast knowledge. At the same time my partner (in crime) is not at all a wine nerd but she could still enjoy the trip since Richard adapted his "teaching" to every person's different level. If there is one thing I would recommend changing... More

Richard provided us with a truly unique experience that is unmatched by wine tours around the globe. His extensive knowledge of wine, the forever growing industry was remarkable and one that my girlfriend and I enjoyed immensely. Whether you are looking to learn more about viticulture or develop a greater appreciation for wine then I would highly recommend this tour... More

Four of us enjoyed a very special wine tour with Richard to the Hunter Valley region. An exciting and varied full day that gave us the benefit of Richard's unsurpassed knowledge about the wine industry. He taught us how to appraise different wine types, vintages, growing locations ,aromas, tastes, colours, and much more. Scenery was special, as were the venues... More

For me, the really great thing about this tour was that there were no sales pitches or stops at chocolate or cheese factories. It was about wine, which was what I wanted. There were just two of us (separate singles) in the group, which made for really focused attention. I learned a lot, in a super environment away from the... More

We booked a group tour, and since nobody else joined the tour at the date, we ended up having a private tour just for the two of us. The whole tour was tailored to us, Richard was able to fulfil all our requests. He gave us a nice tour around a vinery and explained the winemaking process in details. Richard... More

If you're looking for an informative, no nonsense experience then Richard's tour is the best. I appreciated that we skipped all of the tourist aspects (gift shops, etc.) and focused on the wine and the region. Richard is incredibly knowledgeable and we felt fully immersed in the wine culture of Hunter Valley.

Richard is very knowledgeable and gives an excellent tour of some of the Hunter Valley vineyards. Being a former winemaker he brings a unique perspective and details to each tasting. His web site also said if you sign up for a tour and no one else does he still goes. We can attest to that as we were the only... More

A great day out in Hunter Valley with Richard. A most informative and enjoyable experience. We learned a lot about tasting wines and loved that we could sample and compare the same grape variety but from different years. Highly recommended as an introduction wine appreciation.
