If you have any interest of early Australian history or you want to know about life in the early days of the colony then Elizabeth Farm gives you some understanding of the early free settlers. The home of John MacArthur certainly needs visiting. The guides are great helpful and knowledgeable.

Beautiful historic homestead, great place to spend a couple of hours, guided tours available, our tour guide a lady named Gay was very friendly and knowledgeable, open 10am, but closed Monday & Tuesday, nice little coffee shop, best to go early on a weekday, great Australian history.

I visited with my Sydney Living Museums pass, which is excellent value and complements the other museums perfectly. Visiting each of the museums kept me pleasantly occupied for over a week. Elizabeth Farm is a historical homestead in Rose Hill (Parramatta) built by John Macarthur and his wife Elizabeth in 1793. It is one of the oldest houses in Australia... More

Elizabeth Farm is managed by Sydney Living Museums which encourages children to immerse themselves in the experience of this historic homestead. It is not only beautiful but has a wonderful sense of history and my kids particularly loved being able to try on hats, scrub the washing, ring the bells and play the children's games. The cafe is also great... More

The people were fantastic. Since I was the only one there when I arrived they were able to get me a guide despite it not being the scheduled guided tour time. The house has been set out simply so you can see how each of the rooms were used and it's nice that's you can touch the furniture.

We go there regularly because we live close. I think the council could do more to preserve the area around the site. Ultimately it is a beautiful site and they have great scones and coffee

This was a great look into the history of Aussie pioneers. It was surprising to find it slap bang in the middle of a residential area. The gardens were lovely and the café good with great service. On the downside there were places the public could not access (like upstairs in the house). There was a lack of signage to... More

In Rose Hill - and to my surprise - no dedicated parking. I took my grandsons in the June holidays and while the six year old was disappointed that there were no animals on the 'farm', the guide more than made up for this with their child friendly tour. Joshua enjoyed playing the upright piano - I now know what... More
