Grave inscriptions follow an archaic mode- as if in the 19th century. Social and economic and cultural history at its best. Migration flows, origins, appellations, endearments, materials. The location is majestic and compares with the suburban residential area and the Cootha across. What impressed us...More

The Toowong cemetery is certainly an “odd place “” one would visit for a walk around! However if you want tp learn about past governors , Brisbane deceased families, military personnel who have passed on , or even other deceased nationalities , then this is...More

I love graveyards, I love reading the inscriptions on the stones and wondering what the people were like and imagining people stood around the grave all those years ago as the person was lowered into the ground. Toowong cemetery is huge. It goes on forever....More

No disrespect to the dearly departed that are buried there and their families, but what do people see when they take a tour there and at night ?

Very spacious cemetery with a lot of dead people and facts about them. Good to relax in. The atmosphere is a bit dead though.

I know some pople think it odd but I recommend a visit to tbe largest cemetary in the south east. Some of the headstones are dated back into the 1800s. Its a real piece of history as you stroll through here.

On my way to Mount Coot-Tha I accidentally ran into this impressive historic cemetery. The state of abandoned graves that partly date back to deaths in the late 19th century is an impressive reminder of momentariness. It may well be possible to spend half an...More
