This was an awesome way to travel into the mountainous area. The train was comfortable and I enjoyed the stops. It was great as we had our own row and I had my eyes out the window the entire time. It was beautiful!! It's a great way to spend the morning. The actual tourist area is rather boring, but it's... More

There's load to choose from in and around Cairns and this is well worth doing. A combination of scenic train ride, in a vintage train and visit to Koranda then cable car over the rainforest, or you can do the trip in reverse. Worth booking the Diamond package for the extra service and benefits. A good and relaxing mix of... More

The 90 minute scenic train ride from Freshwater to Kuranda takes through the rainforest to Kuranda. During the ride you'll learn about the railway and see some spectacular scenery. There is one stop where you can get out and look at the waterfall. Great to pair with the SkyRail.

The antique railway carriages make for an atmospheric journey up the steep climb to Kuranda, although they are pulled by a modern Diesel engine. The climb from the coastal plain opens up amazing scenic views out to the sea and islands as you pass over impressive viaducts and pass through tunnels. There is a stop part of the way up... More

Enjoy the history behind this remarkable man-made railway all the way to Kuranda. Picturesque surroundings, powerful waterfalls, lush rainforest, spectacular views and intriguing tunnels. An excellent day out with the family. Train up the mountain and sky-rail down! Must do!

We were in a gold pass rail car and the service was amazing. It costs a little more, but well worth the train ride down to our coach in Freewater. Beautiful scenery and very knowledgeable guide.

So glad that they have move us into another carriage when they saw we are uncomfortable as the carriage we were in is packed. Great to support the local tourism industry to keep it going and be... Went on railway after being on the sky rail. Is hot in cabins and no A/C. So take some cold water, they do have water on board but not cold. Tip! What ever carrige your in try not to sit at the front of it, you will see more at the back. Worth a look
