Everybody working there was friendly with us, informative and helpful. We were there during Australian school holiday and expected it to be crowded. Apart from a Swiss couple and us there was only one daycare group with children at the centre. I must admit that by the looks the reception must have seen better days, but the rest of the... More

We stopped here to find out a bit more about Australia's Indigenous people and found it very informative well as good fun. I really enjoyed having a go at throwing a boomerang and would've liked to continue until I got it right. Our guide was well informed and interesting, answering our many questions. He even showed us another extra film... More

Great place, interactive and loads of information. We particularly liked the boomerang throwing as it was interactive! Interesting to find out more about the aboriginal and Torres Strait islanders. Would love to play the digeridoo like our guide- thanks so much for a great experience

Easy to reach by public bus. Buy a day pass. It's cheaper. Lots of personal attention in small groups through the museum, to learn about the culture, how to play a digeridoo, how to throw a boomerang. Good shop for Aboriginal art. Beautiful property.

We really loved the boomerang throwing and the didgeridoo. Fascinating and I would have loved to hear more about their culture. Unfortunately we then had a very long session about the Torres Island culture. The woman who lectured on this was very knowledgeable but completely insensitive to the waning interest of the group. The talk needed to be about half... More

It is a great information centre to showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. Starting to show age and some areas need upgrade/maintenance to attract tourists/visitors. Good conference facilties.

Worth the visit. Highly recommended. Learned something today and had also the chance to throw a returning boomerang. Always though they were made for hunting but they are not.

The tour of the Centre was in two parts with a separate guide for each. The first guide gave an in depth explanation of the different aboriginal tribes in the area and where they lived at Carnarvon Gorge. His knowledge was first class and was put to the test with many questions as we walked through the exhibitions. He showed... More

While this is clearly a 3.5 star place - it punches well above its weight. I hosted a 2 day conference here and would definitely return. The family who run the centre are terrific. Professional, great service and surprisingly good conference food. The hotel rooms are also clean , well appointed and have everything you need. Clearly not luxury -... More
