This is a great activity for the kids. Our 9, 12 and 16 YO kids loved it and we would definitely recommend it as a holiday activity for those who are new to surfing. The staff were friendly and accommodating and took great care of the kids. Very down to earth.

A great family activity in a safe estuary. Simply learn how to ride a paddle board . Low cost , plenty of parking and close to the surf if you are more adventurous. Suitable for all ages from 5 or 6 upwards

I have a young German friend in town who was desperate to learn how to surf. We did the research on the different schools around the Gold Coast and eventually settled on the Cheyne Horan School of Surf in Hanlan St at Surfers Paradise. She booked 3 lessons for $139 which included all the equipment. Her first lesson was on... More

Really enjoyed our surf lesson this morning, the instructor was so helpful & patient but also fun & gave us lots of tips to help get us up standing on our first lesson. Would recommend & we will be back again soon for our next lesson.

A wonderful introduction to surfing, great staff, clear instruction, continuous support, professional photographer on one day. Have had two lessons, so good the first day I came back for more. Fast to get set up and in the water. Right on Surfers Paradise beach. A friend swam nearby whilst I did the lessons. Stood up the first day and manoeuvring... More

I've taken a few advanced surf lessons at Cheynes school in Surfers Paradise and found them all to be excellent. The instructors are friendly, informative and are able to adapt their teaching methods to suit the individual. I've been to a few different surf schools over the years and the general standard of instruction is low. This isn't the case... More

Was a bag of nerves going into the surf lesson but the instructors soon put our minds as ease with really comprehensive instructions and information. Such a great afternoon spent in the water and if I'd have had more time in the Gold Coast I would have been back for a couple more lessons. Definitely the cheapest school I could... More

TIP-JOIN A SCHOOL WITH LESS PEOPLE PER SESSION(GROUP PICTURE ATTACHED) Took the session with them on 28th Dec.'16. Being a non - swimmer,I checked with them if I could take the session and they gave me assurance that it's absolutely okay and they will inform the coach before hand ,so he could take special care. However , on the day... More

5 session deal is good idea if you have time - you can choose when you want your lessons which run twice a day so you could have one on one day then miss a day if you like - plus free dvd and tee shirt ! Quality of instruction generally good but can vary with class size and instructor.
