Very interesting and informative. Good collection and well presented.

Given Townsville's place in aviation history - especially during WWII this museum does justice to all those involved in this conflict. I was on a time restricted tour and I could... read more

Given Townsville's place in aviation history - especially during WWII this museum does justice to all those involved in this conflict. I was on a time restricted tour and I could have spent all day at this museum. It was excellent.

This small but compact museum was open as part of the T150 RAAF Townsville air base Open Day. Beautifully air conditioned on a hot day, the original barracks are chock full of historical photographs, war memorabilia, historical documents, photos of the air base during the world wars. Worth visiting particularly for military history fans.

Went here with my dad who is a retired ex air force. walking around listening to stories and looking at the photos turned out to be a great couple of hours and the staff were well informed being ex service personal. could be bigger being a defense town but well worth stopping in for a look.

Must see whilst you are in the area, my children loved it and the staff at the facilities were awesome and helpful with their information in relation to the aircraft.

Was ok. Most displays outside. Good information boards. Friendly staff. Not really thatmuch to see unfortunately. If you can get there, the one in Darwin is far better.

We spent some time recently at the Royal Australian Air Force Museum in Townsville. It’s a great set up at the aerodrome and a neat piece of history of the RAAF which some of our friends are a part of. My older brother who loves planes (he was an aircraft mechanic for years) loved talking specs about the planes with... More

The Air Force also has an excellent museum at its Garbutt aerodrome base. Again the display is based on the old buildings from the war years and that adds a feel of authenticity and nostalgia to the museum. The museum is currently run by a volunteer group but it will soon come under the control of the Air Force Association.... More

This display is awesome. Some really great items are displayed covering most of wars Australia has been involved in and the history of the RAAF. Many thanks to John our tour guide for a very informative presentation.

Great display of Air Force memorabilia a lot dating back to World War 2. Volunteer staff who are informed about all the displays and willing to share their knowledge. Well worth taking the time to wonder through the display.

We drove to the museum and were greeted at the door by a young male volunteer guide. We hadn't expect a guided tour but we got one. There were lots of displays, uniforms, medals, photos and model planes. There was also an interesting room where radios were displayed and outside there were several aircraft and parts of aircraft from various... More
