    Great place to visit
A visit to the Central Market in Adelaide is almost a must. The market is big, busy and sells mostly fresh fruit and veges. There is also a few seafood stands as well as other different items that you might find in markets such as nuts, dried fruit, bakery products as well as non-food items. If you want to taste South Australian oysters, they are probably cheapest here. Other seafood however seem to be quite expensive. Oysters and baked cheesecake for dinner. Yum !!
Thanks so much for sharing your visit to our beautiful Market! We're pleased you discovered some of our beautiful SA produce. As our traders are often buying direct from the growers and producers prices may fluctuate depending on the season and availability but this also means you can be assured you're getting the freshest produce available. We hope to see you at the Market again soon!

    Adelaide Central Market - amazing!
The Adelaide Central Market is a time piece to be cherished, as are the family genes that seem to keep pumping through them. Generations of venerated blood still flowing through some stalls, and it shows. Passion, pride, excellence. Purpose. As a whole, the Adelaide Central Markets is a medley of history and taste, family and choice. For me it is a "Wow!" Not everything is a gold star here, but most things are. With trepidation and excitement, explore with my blessing. I have also reviewed individual stalls here too.

    Well worth a visit
Great market right int he centre of Adelaide. So much variety of produce. Could easily see doing the weekly shop here as the prices are not at all what you'd expect from a city market. Found all the stallholders a delight to deal with, and got a great cuppa as well!

There's always something at Adelaide market
Adelaide Central Market is a place that brings together South Australian shoppers, who want everything from bakeries to fruit and vegetables, with lots of other things. The Central Market is always busy, it's near the Adelaide CBD. Public transport is good, it's always easy to access. Construction is going on near the Central Market, there's always something happening in the area.

first stop for any adelaide itinerary
the first stop in the morning for anyone in adelaide should be here, and then the next block over (chinatown). you are bound to find something good to eat between these two places the market is not as expansive as south melbourne market, but good enough. for this weekend (25 and 26 october 2024), there is even a special pop up shop of chili crab noodle, 25 AUD, a famous south east asian dish, at adelaide central market. it appears to be part of the seafood festival that seems to happen all over the place this weekend from adelaide to glenelg.

WISH WE HAD THIS IN SYDNEY
I am from Sydney and my goodness I wish we had markets like this in Sydney!!! The Adelaide Central Markets has over 80 vendors, selling fresh produce and amazing food. The fruit and veggies looked so beautiful and fresh!!!! I really wished I could have taken some back to Sydney with me. We walked up and down every aisle, I had a snickers pop at Jamu which was delicious. The food looked amazing so the next day I returned for lunch and had two slices of pizza from Atlas.

    Vibrant Market
This is a small but clean, vibrant and colourful market. Lots of great stalls and places to grab something to eat and a coffee. Its a wonderful market to just stroll though and take in the sounds and colours. Its only only a few minutes walk from Victoria Square and less than 10 minutes walk from Rundall Mall A great way to spend a morning. But a note: its open on Saturdays but not Sundays!

    Awesome market!!
The markets are great! All undercover, parking on the upper levels (about $5 hour approx), fresh produce and some really tasty food. We had some terrific salads and a panini for lunch, from Lucia’s in 5th Avenue from memory. Really nice baklava too, but I can’t remember the vendor. We got some yummy fresh fruit for our apartment and were on our way in about 90 minutes. You could easily spend more, or less, time here though.

    Great variety and excellent produce
I’ve been to Adelaide before but have never been to the markets because generally I head to the wineries. But this time I visited during a trip on the Indian Pacific from Perth to Sydney . and this was one of our stops. I don’t know why I haven’t visited before. It’s not huge but it has everything that you need. Beautiful fruit and vegetables and lots of produce of other kinds as well but also different types of goods to buy. , great for presents. Too many chocolate and sweet stores for my liking because I bought them all and now I’ve put on weight..😂. But seriously, it’s a lovely place and we had a lovely breakfast there as well.. so next time you’re in town try it out

As markets go around Australia, Adelaide Central had a large number of suppliers of high standard, quite diverse in the product offerings and overall good quality. As good, if not better than South Melbourne and Prahran in Melbourne. Overall a good experience.

Visiting Adelaide for the first time and thought we would visit the Adelaide Markets and take an organised tour.

We were lucky to have two guides, Rachel and Amelia who were both great and took us on a 90 minute journey through the markets where they shared the history and we tried many of the delights of the stall holders.

We would recommend anyone interested in the markets book a tour to get the best experience possible.

This market is one of Australia's largest fresh produce markets. It has a wide variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, spread over a wide area. The fresh produce ranges from the exotic to the humble, but you can be sure of getting a bargain.

Yes they doing it up so market was smaller than usual but so costly. Grapes were $14.00 a kilo three times the cost of supermarkets and not that fresh. Everything was so expensive and if it wasn’t for China supermarket would have been a waste of petrol and time. The butchers inside the market had hardly any produce and neither had the fishmongers.
The Chinese supermarket had great pork meat at a good price.
Had to park in the street as no car parking available.

Fun place to visit, with excellent food stalls. But the food is very expensive. Go and browse, have a bite to eat, enjoy the vibe. But maybe limit your purchases to special items that you cant get elsewhere at a better price.

Adelaide Central Market is one of Australia's largest and best food markets, selling a huge range of fresh fruit and vegetables, apart from other produce. Recently, one trader has bagan selling fresh-baked Portuguese egg tarts, much-loved in Asia. A project to expand the market is underway, making it even bigger and better

I always say if you want to get a feel for a town or city go to its market, that's where you'll accurately feel it's pulse. You see what they are producing in the region, what they are selling and how they consume it, all in a snap shot.

So to that end, Adelaide is totally alive and well. An intimate market with inviting nooks and crannies to wash down an Italian doughnut with a good cup of coffee, gobble down a plate of spicy paella, or just take in all the colour and sound that washes over you. It's not too big or commercial, not too touristy that locals feel out of place, and not too busy that you can't move freely around, even on the weekends.

It takes all the best aspects of Melbourne's markets and rolls it into one very appealing place. Don't change this.

The Central Market is a must visit location every time we visit Adelaide - it is unquestionably the best market of any capital city market in Australia - how lucky are the Adelaideans!

There is a large variety of stalls selling all manner of tasty and interesting foods plus plenty of cafes, all in a very clean and pleasant environment. The delis and fruit stalls in particular are fantastic, with huge ranges of product, including some we had never seen before.

Unfortunately the place lacked some of the buzz of previous visits as many shops had closed due to the pandemic, but it is still a memorable shopping and food experience not to be missed on a trip to Adelaide!

Adelaide Central Market is a cornucopia of fresh fruit and vegetables, almost everything you could want to make an unforgetable meal. It's one of the largest undercover markets in the Southern Hemisphere, with one million kilograms of produce chamging hands every month. No matter what you want, you are sure to find something worth buying at the Central Market.

What an interesting place.
Easy to walk to from most hotels.
It has the usual Coles, fruit and veg plus meat places but unlike say Sydney, which is bigger, there is very little repetition of shops and stalls.
Some really interesting ones like just eggs, wine and spirits sales, hats, cheeses form a large variety of places.
Couple of good coffee places.
We enjoy the place which is under cover and thus available in all weather conditions. Items were well priced and the Camera House with antique lens and cameras was of particular of interest to me.
