Had lots of fun finding our way through this mine (not a working mine), going from one information point to the next. Informative and unique underground setting. My hubby had hurt his ankle & was on crutches - he even managed to hop through. Boys enjoyed noodling (searching through soil mounds) for opals at the end. Friendly owner who obviously... More

Very friendly welcome and an interesting part of Coober Pedy to visit .A very good insight as to the history and hard work that the first opal miners had to endure back in the early days

We had a great time, putting on helmets and going through the different parts of the mining from old times within the old mine.

Even though the mines were closed due to the rains we still managed to get the fell of how people lived in the early years of mining opal at Coober Pedy . Lots of old items to look at. Very interesting

If you are making a career choice, visiting this mine will quickly convince you that it was not a job for the faint hearted. The equipment and tools show what backbreaking work this was . You can easily spend an hour or so going round the mine. This mine is one of the earliest mines and dates back to 1916.... More

From the demonstration outside with the machines, too going underground with the hard hat, on you are emersed in the life of a miner in the opal mines. When finished exploring, underground you get an experience on communication and life in Coober Pedy. Overall a must do in Coober Pedy.

It was fantastic to be able to go underground and see how the miners lived in the beginning doing it all by hand.. Trevor has from our conversation learnt over time to explain expertly how it was and can compare it to miners of today. It is one of the best attractions I have seen.

This was an excellent way to spend an hour. Interesting and informative. The walk through the tunnels gave you a realistic view of life in an old day mine. Displays were well kept and the owner very entertaining.
