Again Aaron gave us such a detailed tour and history of Coober Pedy Opal. Went down into old area which was mined. Quite closed in if one did not like small places but we did not have problems.

We entered a wonderland of information via static display and video based information. A #10 tour of the original hand dug underground home of the original miner followed by the fascinating extension of what a real dug out looks like today.

The Umoona Museum was a good introduction to Coober Pedy and being underground. The Museum section was worthwhile and the shop contained some beautiful fossilised opal specimens.

Caves and tunnels highlight the history of Coober Pedy. Interesting story of the Dog Fence. All lead to a very large opal showroom. Helpful staff and great selection of opal jewellery . Yes, I did buy a beautiful opal!

We came to Umoona as part of a tour and were not disappointed. The mine is well set out and signed, with so many things to see and learn about.
