Wrap up warm for the summit no matter the time of day or year. Hat, gloves, jacket the lot! Absolutely jaw-dropping scenery with photo ops from every direction. Bring water, a snack and hike a little up there. Driving up can be a bit daunting with big campervans inappropriately using the narrow road. Highly recommended.

It is a relatively easy climb from Ferny Park up to The Springs. The climb from The Springs to the Pinnacle is another story. My wife and I are pretty fit (running, gym etc etc - won't bore you) but this really challenged us. It is a rocky track for at least 80% of it and quite steep at a... More

I went on a great sunny day and I could easily see all the way to Bruny Island and Tasman Peninsula ( Port Arthur). Lots of rocks to climb and do selfie. If you are afraid of heights then take the boardwalk and you can still see the whole of Hobart and beyond. Big carpark at the top with toilets... More

We were so impressed with the views from the summit of Mt Wellington... Clouds blew in and completely covered us and the chill was amazing!! Really worth the drive up to the summit to check it out, but take a warm jacket, even in summer.

Despite not the tallest mountain in the world, just 1271m above sea level, the view up at mountain top is amazing! It is unforgettable sight and somehow brings one some peace. Air is fresh up there though the wind could be tiny bit of sharp and strong!

This view has to be one of the best views in Australia. The long drive to the top is certainly worth it - and adds a note of real adventure. This is the 2nd time I have gone to the top of Mt Wellington, the last time about 6 or 7 years ago. The real "trick" is making your trip... More

We drove a bus load of friends up the mountain and although the wind was nippy the views were fantastic. We could see for miles in all directions. The air was clear with only a few clouds.

We went there on 2 Dec. Read a lot of review about how cold this place is, but we still didn't prepare enough as we thought it shouldn't be cold in summer. It was 21 degree in Hobart on the day we visited, but 9 degree in Mount Wellington! It was very cold when the wind blows. So go prepared!... More
