A great night exploring hidden bars on a balmy Friday night in Melbourne. What a treat! Something special for those of us who live in Melbourne, not just for visitors. So many laneways and venues we would never have found on our own. A fun, safe and fabulous evening. Great value for money with two cocktails included in the price.

On a recent trip to Melbourne we decided to do one of these walking tours we have heard about. We were given a very personalized & informative experience by Eban who had such depth of knowledge of the history/art/graffiti/architecture etc etc. We learn't so much and will recommend the tour to our family and friends. Thankyou Eban and Meltours. Paul... More

San gave us an interesting precise of the history of Melbourne, followed by a walk through the laneways & other areas of interest within the CBD. It was a great way to start our long weekend in Melbourne!

We firstly like to say Thank you to Mel Tours. They managed to rearrange our booking (after we accidentally booked it on the incorrect day - holiday brain). Kathy was excellent tour guide; obviously loves her job and the beautiful City of Melbourne. We had previously did a Laneways Tour 18 months which we previously enjoyed, hence why we choose... More

I booked the laneways tour with friends who were visiting from Adelaide and we all absolutely enjoyed our tour. Our tour guide, Cathy, was warm, friendly and extremely knowledgable. She took us on a great tour showcasing all the best parts of Melbourne with a perfect balance of history, architecture and culture. The coffee and chocolates from Lindt were well... More

Kathy did a great job of drawing us into Miss Fisher as well as Melbourne history. We had a great time! A warning: don't eat too much before the tour. The tea is at the beginning of the tour, and you will be well fed! Now we can't wait to get home and watch the Miss Fisher series all over... More

Our guide walked us through the lanes and arcades of the city for nearly 3 hours at a gentle pace. We learnt about the history and development of the city landscape. Her talk was peppered with amusing and interesting anecdotes. We enjoyed a free coffee and chocolates. We visited galleries, unique clothing outlets and observed the vast array of eateries... More

Kathy was our expert tour guide and did a magnificent job in showcasing the TV programme and the many interesting buildings Melbourne has. A must see tour for all Miss Fisher fans. She peppered the tour with funny little stories and facts. Great food, great weather and a nice group of people including some American visitors. Kathy engaged with all... More

John showed us around Melbourne"s laneways with a touch of history and background on the foundations how Melbourne first started with buildings and landmarks. It was an interesting tour highlighting cool laneways, artworks and spotting some funky hidden restaurants along the way! Would recommend to anyone who hasn't been to Melbourne before or wanting a guided tour to see the... More

We have been to Melbourne numerous times but thought it would be interesting to partake in a walking tour of the laneways and we weren't disappointed. Our guide, John, was excellent. His knowledge was incredible and the 2 1/2 hours was full of interesting information. You can tell his is very passionate about his home city. Definitely worth doing and... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
