The aquarium has some great exhibits but it lets itself down with really poor information about them. Many of the touch screens didn't work or didn't list what was in the exhibit. Where there were no touch screens, there's very little printed information. We were there on a Sunday afternoon n winter, so maybe not the best time, but there... More

A lot of the enclosures were decent in size however some were rather small and somewhat upsetting. It was an up-side that they do a breeding programme to sustain wildlife.

Have been to a number of such places and this is a little bit disappointing. Plenty of people there which was a good sign but overall once you got past the large displays, it lacked diversity.

We were happy that we had booked in advance, so we could avoid the queueu. Although it was quite crowded, we still managed to see all the different aquaria up close and we really enjoyed it. Took grandparents and child out for the day, although there was a long line to get in we did not have to wait long. The aquarium is laid out spaciously enough that it can accomodate a lot of people so it did not feel crowded. They are now offering yearly passes to families which sound like a really good deal.... Fun day out! Right in the city centre, it's a pleasant surprise. Much better than I thought it'd be.

The aquarium has a load of interesting fish and a great touch pool for the kids. However, it's a lot smaller than you realise and seems a bit over priced for what you get. Go to the Melbourne Zoo instead and see a platypus!

The grandchildren had a fabulous time up close to the glass as all the fish and sharks swam by, they ran from display to display saying come on lets go!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
