Easy to get to by train if visiting otherwise parking wasn't a problem. Great day out for adults and kids, easy access and animals are easy to see. Great surrounds and well presented Zoo.

Beautiful day. Zoo very busy. Would be good to see more extensive education boards on conservation. Good to see enclosures keep updating for animals...additional animals means soon become too small

Skip the zoo - go to a wildlife sanctuary - there's plenty of them. To be fair I think we went on National School Field trip day and the place was completely overrun with (not extremely well behaved) children. It's really spread out and you...More

Really worth a visit. Good facilities. Animals all kept in large enclosures and seem relatively happy. Easy to get to and facilities for kids are excellent.

During the day we heard music playing & didn't know where it was coming from. Thought it was someone with a loud radio somewhere. Music became louder & the thumping bass drum vibrated in my head. I couldn't hear my husband across the table while...More

The zoo is an easy tram ride from central Melbourne taking around 15 minutes on a number 58. This tram drops you about 100 metres from the gates. All the various animals seen appeared to be well looked after and their various enclosures were reasonable...More

No I do not think so. I can't remember any area for touching animals. However the Melbourne Aquarium has a feely pool with star fish, sponges and shells that can be touched.
