Overview
More
The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is Australia's largest, oldest and most popular sporting venue. The MCG has hosted plenty of international cricket, including the first-ever Test and the 1992 World Cup final, countless VFL/AFL Grand Finals, the 1956 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games. It also hosted the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Other sporting spectacles include FIFA World Cup soccer qualifiers, rugby league home and away matches and State of Origin and international rugby union clashes. Apart from its sporting events, the MCG has also witnessed many blockbuster music concerts, and even Pope John Paul II held a mass there when he visited Melbourne in 1986. The MCG has a total capacity of 100,024 people, comprising 95,024 seats and 5000 standing room spaces. The stadium also houses the National Sports Museum, which includes some of the most priceless pieces of memorabilia in Australian sporting history.

Best day out at a cricket match in a long time. The MCG is huge but we were lucky enough to be in with the Barmy Army, what a brilliant atmosphere. Plenty of places for food and drink and prices not bad for a premium...More

What can you say about the "G". Its quintessentially Melbourne.. I attend the mighty MCG most weeks during footy season. No day could compare to when the Mighty Tiges crushed Adelaide by 8 sausage rolls in the grand final 2017!!! The place just oozes atmosphere....More

Despite this being an enormous stadium, this place really buzzes during an AFL game. When we went to the game there were over 90,000 people which gave the place an electric atmosphere. Sadly no one monitors the consumption of beer and there are minimal security...More

Never saw an AFL match live till we visited the MCG for a Saturday match. Atmosphere definitely enhanced the actual game - as good as it was. Easy to get to.

Attended the football and the venue was great as was the seating and food has improved but the access is pretty much by public transport as there is no longer car parking at the ground which is a real shame

Huge stadium in Melbourne. Watched an AFL game here. Walkable from the centre of Melbourne. Not all of it is under cover so some potential for sunburn.

Hi If you went on a tour you would be able to take photos. The tours allow you access to the ground as well. They are very informative.
