The landmark Regent Theatre holds a key part in our city’s history since opening as a grand picture palace in 1929. Having survived a fire, a flood, 20 years in darkness and many threats of demolition, the venue reopened in August 1996, meticulously refurbished and returned to its breathtaking former glory.Today it stands more lavish and grand than ever and continues to host some of the world’s most renowned theatre productions.

I only come here once a year to see films at the Melbourne International Film Festival. I really come to look over the old building. It is beautiful. I love the marble stairs and brass hand rails, the wide expanse of seats across the theatre,...More

Sometime can be a little difficult to see in between peoples heads. Lots of switching sides to see if someone in front keeps moving.

Came here for a matinee showing, we had pretty good seats, but I was a bit disappointed with the show. There was a good range of merchandise available, with the program being $25 which was reasonable, but the food and drink prices were astronomical I...More

What an amazing performance. The costumes, the lighting, the interplay with movie and live theater, the singing, it was all amazing. Taking our 10 year old granddaughter was all that we hoped it could be. She was spellbound and in awe of the spectacle played...More

Wow a theatre with fantastic character, charm and class. Makes for an intimate setting with it being a smaller theatre than those in other cities in Australia, what a way to experience some of our amazing talent.

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
