This was our first time to visit Melbourne, and surely we fell in love with the city immediately. In the heart of the city runs the Yarra river; with a controversial past where it served as being a sewer for industrial waste, and with an...More

It's very nice to just stroll along the Yarra River. There are a lot of places to eat along the river.

Great trip on the Yarra down to Williamstown on the ferry. Very informative skipper who did a great commentary. Complimentary tea and coffee. Very comfortable boat. Ideal way to spend a few hours. Very accessible for older people.

Lots of atmosphere, eating ,live and recorded music to be seen. Some places the recorded music was too loud for pleasant eating. Shopping and meeting places adorned this long strolling venue.

The river and its colour have been a source of commentary for years but it is still the heart of Melbourne. May not compare to Sydney's harbour but it is still special wandering down Southbank enjoying the vast array of wonderful restaurants.
