We were visitors to Melbourne, but have been to the city many times before. This time, we met friends from England who had never been, so Parliament House seemed like a good choice to take them. It's at the end of the CBD, so convenient from inner city accommodation. Just across the road is the Old Treasury Building, so it's... More

An enjoyable 45 minute tour of this building that is very ornate inside. The tour guide Simom was excellent with stories for everyone about the building's history, its architecture, politicians past and present, the process of government in Victoria. Although tours are free they are limited to 25 people at a time and are more popular in the afternoons. I... More

Magnificent building designedly and perfect to detail. Heavily influenced by Greek and Roman architecture. It's said that 3 mn worth( today's worth) of gold has been used to paint and decorate the building at the time of completion. A fee tour is offered and guided by a very passionate staff with excellent knowledge of the building and history of Victoria.... More

The entrance is impressive with long white columns and standing on the steps you get a good view of Bourke Street. It is steeped in history in and worth a visit. Trams from the Bourke Street Mall with take you there and it is a short journey. To the left are lovely gardens and Parliament Station and Her Majesties Theater.

Victoria's pre-eminent heritage listed building is important culturally and architecturally, a visit on a sitting day and during question time specifically is a real eye-opener as to the conduct of parliamentary proceedings. Guided tours are run regularly, many areas are restricted, but the grandeur of the main entrance and public spaces is worth a quick look if you are short... More

Check their website for times and days of their free tours. We truly enjoyed our tour - but even though we got there 25 minutes before the tour, we were the last ones allowed in. They have a limit of 25 people per tour. You are able to visit both chambers and hear the history of the building - plus... More

A group of us did a tour followed by High Tea. The tour was really excellent - our guide - Craig - was very interesting and answered our questions well. The whole tour was a fascinating insight to a beautiful building with a lot of history and just to see the workings of the parliament was interesting.
