very interesting self guided walk that teaches you about the history of the local indigenous people. download the brochure online too get more info. end your walk the charcoal lane restaurant that is run by mission australia and that employs many local aboriginals

This walking trail starts near the Exhibition Building and proceeds mainly down Gertrude Street,then down Smith Street, Fitzroy. It's an easy walk of around 3 kms (2 miles) The walking tour takes you to places of significance to the Aboriginal community in Fitzroy and Collingwood. It's a brave initiative. I can recommend that you end the walk with some yummy gelato at Gelato Messina, or drinks & pub food at Nakad for Satan

The Fitzroy Aboriginal Heritage Walk is 16 sites, mostly along Gertrude St. You need to get the specific Heritage Walk leaflet to find the marker points as they are hard to spot. First one is in Carlton Gardens at the start of Gertrude St, it is a huge Moreton Bay Fig Tree which was on old meeting place where many... More
