Departing out of Southern Cross in Melbourne's CBD, the Vline is a great way to get to regional centres in Victoria. Watch out for train replacement buses - especially on a weekend - but it certainly beats driving for a day trip. The $8 upgrade...More

We recently booked first-class seats from Melbourne to Albury. From our perspective, the "first-class" carriage would have been economy - if that - in most other jurisdictions in the developed world. The seats seemed narrower than economy airline seats, with legroom at an absolute minimum....More

Travelled to Geelong in afternoon and then returned in evening. Train comfortable enough for the one hour trip each way. Carriage reasonably clean, facilities not as good as trains in China, Europe and Americabut acceptable. Both trips punctual.

V/Line is the rail service that connects metropolitan Melbourne to the country. The service is good, on the whole. There are occasional lapses. Most regional trains leave frorm Southern Cross Station (formerly Spencer St Station).. Leave yourself some time to board your train, the station...More

Economy class. No space for luggage and seats are not numbered. It’s almost full when I get in from caufield. I had to put my luggage in front of the seat and put my feet up. Not really comfortable but saved me 3 hours driving.

Staff shortages on the day we traveled meant that the food counter was closed around halfway through the journey. I also noticed that the supplies and range of breakfast foods was insufficient for an early morning journey. The trip was smooth, train well appointed, but...More
