On Heirisson island, located at walking distance from central Perth (or take the free CAT bus, red line to Queens Gardens to get closer) there is a fenced area in the park where you can find cangaroos jumping around. You have to enter the area through the gate and walk around a while to spot the group of animals. Most... More

An easy walk from East Perth, Heirisson offers some relaxed surroundings right on the Swan River. Good for fishing, or just a BBQ. There is a walking trail that takes you through an "untouched" section that is home to about 10 Kangaroos. The gates can be locked on this section depending on preservation activities at the time.

Early Sunday morning on this beautiful tiny nature reserve with views over Perth and 5 friendly roos happily grazing on their breakfasts. A real oasis.

During my short visit to Australia I was disappointed that I had not seen and kangaroos. On my final day I had heard there may be some on the island. So I got up early and had a walk along. I initially walked around the wrong side of the island so was again disappointed not to have seen any, then... More

Walk around and wait patiently, there is one family of friendly wallaby. Theres a different of wallaby and kangaroo but they are still... More

You can see, pet and play with kangaroos. They are friendly. They are small. There are only 3 kangaroos there but they are cute.

We walked to Heirisson Island from our hotel. It was about 4 city blocks. Once there, we started looking for the kangaroos. We finally found 5 of them lying in the cool grassy area that was sort of wet and boggy. They did not mind us there. I took a couple of pictures of them lying there.

went jogging there: an island of tranquillity close to the city. Very beautiful, good walking paths.

Close to the CBD, Heirisson island is worth the walk - or run! The island is divided into 2 parts, with the Kangaroos in one half. The Kangaroos are tame, but free - so they choose how they let you come! Despite some negative reviews i didn't find it scruffy or littered

Was a beautiful and hot summer day and there was no kangaroos! There was nothing actually on the island. :( but yet a lovely place to visit and a great view from Perth city centre.
