The main bay is a wide expanse looking out to the offshore islands - the water is shallow but shingly and you can collect a certain amount of cockles daily. There's plenty of parking and a small shop/cafe is nearby for a refreshment stop. However,...More

We didn't expect to find a bay full of shells. It was absolutely stunning on the day we went. So peaceful.

A wide bay with a small cove and beautiful sands. It looked popular with fishermen on the jetty and a few small boats going in and out to the little islands or water skiing out in the bay. Wonderful.

kawakawa was not a planned trip..we found it while searching other beaches. It was a public beach with a private feeling...lonely, expansive and beautiful. A bit of a walk to Hit the beach but well worth it.
