I was very disappointed with Alberton, especially after my excellent visit to Highwic earlier the same day. There was no one around to greet me or collect my admission fee; I had to interrupt a couple who were inspecting the house as possible wedding venue to figure out if anyone was actually working there. When the lady finally came she... More

Peak into the past at Alberton and immerse yourself in history. The home of a pioneering family, the restoration is historically accurate and provides a snapshot of life in the late 19th century. Climbing the steep attic stairs to the servants rooms was amazing, imagine doing it holding a candle after a 12 or 14 hour day!! I found the... More

This is a heritage house and is well worth visiting if you are interested in old buildings etc. The friendly volunteer gave us an introduction about the house and then we wandered on our own. We purchased a small guide book for 2 NZD but there is plenty of signage in each room. There is also quite a large garden... More

I was invited to meet a friend at Alberton and though I now live in Auckland I had not heard of it before so went along not really knowing what to expect. Alberton is a lovely old historic home in Mount Albert with beautiful grounds. The rooms are full of furniture consistent with the age of the house and there... More

If you love exploring historic houses you will love Alberton. Tucked away in a suburban area it looks so inviting and it's so peaceful inside. The display of how it went from a farmhouse to an eighteen room mansion is intriguing. If you like taking photos you'll get some beautiful ones of the house from the gardens out the back.... More

Our group of 8 people went to Alberton for tea and a tour of the house. Great tour, nice and short, but very informative, then you can wander through the house at your leisure. prefect. Then tea was served on the veranda - very old english and delightful. Would highly recommend.

One of only a few grand homes in Auckland open to the public and offering a look into how life was like a century ago . Ive been fond of this place for many years and visited it often . The design of the mansion is very unique and well worth a visit The gardens are simple and not overly... More

What a beautiful treasure hidden amongst everyday life. Thoroughly enjoyed looking through a piece of our history. We were given an extensive overview of the history by the guide which was great. Would recommend this place for sure
