The kids enjoy so much with the music exhibition, they can experience to be a DJ. The kid zone also fun, 3D drawing quite a new stuff to play with. They also have dinosaur, aeroplane, and other stuff. Free for NZ resident. Good food at restaurant for rest. Great for school holiday.

For its location alone this place is worth a visit...tremendous setting. A bit of a hike from the CBD if you feel so inclined to do so, but a great walk if you have the time. The museum itself is special. For me, I really enjoyed the war memorial museum on the 3rd floor. A great dive into New Zealands... More

What a wonderful place, full of history and plus. The exhibits are well presented with excellent commentary. This is a must for New Zealanders and overseas visitors. Gives a great insight into NZ of a past era which makes NZ today.

We arrived at the museum just in time for the "Highlights of the Museum" tour, which gave a terrific overview of the museum's collection. We then spent most of the day here, with exhibitions to suit everyone. Kids are well catered for, the café is excellent in quality and value for money, and the building itself is a work of... More

One really cannot come to Auckland without paying a visit to the Auckland Museum. In particular, the full scale carved meeting house and many wonderful artifacts, carvings, wakas, paintings and histories of the various tribes and other island cultures will keep you spell bound for hours. A tribute to the region.

Visited the museum with my sister-in-law for a bit of fresh air while on a recent trip to Auckland and was pleasantly surprised. I hadn't been to it since I was a small child and couldn't remember much. The NZ music special exhibit was quite cool and interesting, and very interactive. It's free for NZ residents - which was very... More
