Since the waitakere are closed, this walk offers an excellent alternative. Walk through two craters and see the lovely Cornwall park.

The path shows off Auckland's spectacular volcanic topography and takes you through some pleasant green spaces where most tourists never venture. You'll need to print a trail map from the Auckland Council website or get one from tourist information because the waymarking is patchy. To...More

The Coast to Coast walk starts by the ferry terminal downtown Auckland. This 16 km urban/suburban walk goes through the central business district and over to Oakland Domain, the large park which contains the Auckland museum. It also goes by Mt. Eden, Cornwall park, One...More

A nice walk along the waterfront especially on a sunny day. Some good places to stop for lunch or dinner. Fantastic views of the harbour.

I would definitely recommend this day hike to Auckland visitors. You get a great idea of the size of the city and it’s green spaces. The route is clearly laid out in the Explore Central Auckland map, ( from the tourist information centres) but we...More

Pleasant walking on the marked route, from Onehunga to the Viaduct (or reverse direction). About half on footpaths and half through parks including over two volcanos. Plenty of food and drink options along the way, but toilets are harder to find.

We started the walk from Onehunga station. The starting point was quite easy to find from there (turn left up Princes St and walk to the park; about half a mile). When you see the skate park you know you’re there. The train was great,...More

Myself and 3 others walked this walk on a Saturday. But drizzly but not too bad. Walked to start from the onehunga train station, about 5 min. Keep close eye out for the blue arrow signs, they can hard to spot. But great walk through...More

Will have to deviate off the route occasionally, or walk parts, e.g. over volcanos.
