Shortish walk (15 mins) from the city but steep hill up. Lots of good eating places and boutique shops. Now a very trendy place to be

Yes, you read this correctly. We have dined at Eleven Madison on two occasions and yes, it is rated as the worlds best restaurant but mainly for the additional frills and not only for the food. Sidart was exceptional. Truly truly a dining sensation and should not be missed. Sidart offers the palate a degustation experience that is mostly perfection.... More

When visiting Auckland you must walk Ponsonby Road. Great restaurants , cafes , bars and shopping. So much on offer and I think the best area of Auckland.

In our opinion, the best part of Ponsonby area was the people-watching. No matter what time of day you happen to venture out, there are people dining on the sidewalk, laughing in the restaurants, wandering this lovely little area filled with shops and great places to eat.

We stayed in a motel in the centre of this district. It is about a 1km walk into the centre of Auckland but a nice district with many bars, cafe's and shops. Beware the cafe's and restaurants shut early by UK standards

Ponsonby is just a walk away from downtown Auckland and is a really good neighborhood with great shops, restaurants and cafes at every corner. It has good nightlife that is all it's own. Close to Ponsonby Central is the Asian food court where you can get a taste of Asia and there are plenty of pubs to go around. It... More

Stayed just off Ponsonby Road in December so made sure on my return visit to Auckland that my travel buddy and I made the easy trip to Ponsonby Road from the centre of town. A great shopping and eating street and the most delightful neighbourhood for a stroll around. If like me you love well maintained heritage buildings, definitely take... More

Please see my many TripAdvisor reviews for good reads on my travel experiences! https://www.tripadvisor.com/members/Erin_leigh79 Our motel (see my review) was in Ponsonby. I liked the neighborhood quite a bit with its selection of shops, restaurants, and easy of getting around. I did buy some clothes at a... More
