We really enjoyed the ferry trip and walk to the summit, wish we’d allowed more time. The walk was easy for our teenagers and only mildly challenging for their parents (who are less fit than we want to be). Would not recommend going on an...More

Do come in the morning so you have plenty of time to slowly hike cause it can be tiresome. We came in the afternoon and had to hike quickly and almost died from exhaustion. We came unprepared so I didn't know it's gonna be a...More

We took a ferry to the island and took the road-train trip to the base of the summit. Climbed 300+ steps to reach the summit. Fantastic panoramic view from the top. If you love walking, this is the place!

As long as your reasonably fit you can walk to the top in under an hour or take the train to the top. Make sure you have water as no shops on the island. Great views.

Heading up to he top of the volcano is a great morning out! It’s a relatively gentle walk with great views back over Auckland. There’s not a lot of shade so keep it in mind if you go when it’s sunny.

Great views from the top of the island. A comfortable walk up as it wasn’t too hot. Good to see the caves too!

Very interesting and worth the walk up to the summit. Enjoyed the trip over to Rangitoto Island on the ferry. The views were beautiful. The island tour was well worth it. Value for money.

I would recommend doing the ferry and tractor tram tour. It is a very informative and interesting tour. About 30 mins into the tour you stop at the base of Rangitoto where you get off and can do the 15 min each way trek upto...More

Yes, but bring a raincoat and warm clothes. The paths are solid so it is not muddy.
