Chilled afternoon

A bunch of us at Christmas Eve chilling with wine and petanque and platters. An awesome afternoon chilling with bean bags under the trees. No better way to spend a lazy afternoon.

We stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday afternoon and had a lovely hour or so sitting outside enjoying the tasting platter accompanied by excellent wine. The service was very good, friendly and attentive but not at all intrusive. We will certainly be back again!

We were in Gisborne over Easter and there wasn't uch open so it was great this place was open. We shared some platters of food that were very tasty and had a wine tasting that serves you five or six "tastes". We sat in the nice garden section which was great as we had kids who could run around, there... More

We really enjoyed our flights of wine, and a delicious platter of tasty food. the setting is lovely, with the nice lawn, and shady trees. Would have definitely scored Matawhero a five, but for the dogs! There was a black dog who seemed to live there. No problem at at, very relaxed lab. However, other customers let there dogs run... The cheese platter was great. We also had the tasting board of 5 wines, which were all delicious. The rose is one of the best and the Chardonnay is very good. A lovely relaxed lunch break. If one of you is driving one tasting series is enough.

We stopped here on a cycle tour organised by Gisborne cycles. They offer a set selection of 5 tasting wines and a lunch platter. The platter had lots of cheese, meat and deli options and nice bread and dips. The wine came with comprehensive tasting notes. You can buy wine by the glass or buy bottles to drink or takeaway.... Was suggested by another staff at neighboring winery to stop here if we wanted more tastings. Walked in and it's in a charming building. Tasting counter occupied by others, so we sat and ended up paying for our tasting flutes of 6, which wasn't a bad deal anyways. Ordered a big platter of appetizers to accompany, which was AMAZING. Cheeses,... More

We decided to visit this winery after reading the reviews. Lovely setting under the trees outside ordered our platter for 2 and our wine. The platter was really nice and asking if they had gluten free crackers they did. My husband said the bread was fresh. A good assortment of cheeses, meats including smoked salmon and other condiments and pickles.... More

This winery has very pleasant surroundings and would make a relaxing and enjoyable place for lunch. We were there to look at the wines because this vineyard has a fairly famous history, the wines having been selected for a number of major state functions many years ago. The original owner sounds like a classic "can do" New Zealander who left... More

My husband and I spent a very pleasant afternoon sharing a delicious platter while tasting wine and listening to live music on the lawn. Beautiful relaxed setting. Plenty of room for the children to run around. One group was even playing some backyard cricket! Picnic blankets are also supplied to those who would prefer to sit on the lawn. Perfect!
