Last weekend we travelled to Napier to join in the fun. In all the years, 6 at least, that I have been going to this event it has been typical hot sunny Hawkes Bay weather. This year it rained, and rained and rained. This was good because the Bay really needed that rain. It was also pretty unfortunate for the... More

Fancy setting up and maintaining a trust which preserves and promotes an era and its architecture. Brilliant.

If you want something different try a walking tour of Napier and try and have Tony Chittenden as your guide. He is full of the history of the town and he is passionate about Napier of yesteryear – he brings it all back to life. Tony is a retired teacher so his background is a big plus to making his... The Trust is a remarkable tribute to Napier and a credit to the volunteers who run it. We enjoyed a guided walk around the town where many facets of the buildings were pointed out to us. Without the tour we could have easily just walked by and missed them. The commentary during the tour was also of great interest. We... More

The Trust does such a goo d job organising and promoting so many Art Deco events. We have had a fun filled few days. Thank you Art Deco Trust. We will return next year. We recommend everyone attends this event at least once.

We took the Art Deco tour offered by the Trust and found it very informative and entertaining. It's a 2-hour walk around the city, pointing out numerous architectural details and relating the history of the city.

To learn about the history of Napier and the Art Deco styling you must go to the Art Deco centre and take a walking tour. We were given an extremely informative talk from Charlotte, on the architectural styles that overwhelm you from almost every building you see. When explained everything has a design, purpose and history. Fascinating. The 20 minute... More

Had a great morning touring the City in a vintage car driven by our fantastic guide Teri. She guided us through some of the must see parts of the City, explaining the history of Napier in an enjoyable way. We had a personalised exploration of the Theatre. This was certainly one of the highlights of our visit to Napier.

We wanted to watch a film on the area and someone recommended this location for a $5 film on the big quake of '31. The ladies there were very helpful and the film was very informative. If you visit here, you need to know the facts around the '31 earthquake. We didn't take the walking tour but would do that... More
