Took the kids here while in Napier, $56 for 4 adults and 2 kids is an absolute bargain (the lady on the desk put us all through as a family). The kids loved it, the wife loved the penguins and I got to see a kiwi. Well worth the admission.

We attended the aquarium on a day when a cruise ship was also in town. We were pleased to find the place was well able to handle large crowds and you got a good look at all on offer, with the exception of their Kiwi's. They are elusive little suckers! There is a cafe and gift shop on site that... More

It is a cold, windy, rainy day so we decide to check out the Aquarium. A very well done display of both local and other water critters. The building appears to be quite new and modern. There were only a few other people there which made it nice as one could take their time to look at everything. Very interesting... More

This is a good aquarium right on the ocean in Napier. It's not too big but has some nice tanks with all kinds of fish and other critters. In the lower levels they have a dark room with a big enclosure and they have kiwi waking around in it. A good way to spend a couple of hours. You can... More

The national aquarium, while small, has some unique displays, the highlight seeing a native Kiwi digging around for a feed, along with the normal aquarium fishy displays. There are extra activities for children, incl a small one on dinosaurs based on a local find. They also have an interesting new display called East Coast LAB, which shows what scientists are... We all enjoyed the aquarium. Loved the variety if sealife and their amazing colours. We were there around Easter and there wss a fun egg hunt for us all - nit just the kids :). The cafe served a good cappuccino and fresh sausage rolls - with free tomato sauce. It is all a bit pricey but there are so... More

Enjoyed our walk through this lovely aquarium. The blue penguins were really cute up close too. They have a kiwi habitat.

A little on the pricy side but we still had a nice time looking at the various fish, turtles, reptiles, penguins and even kiwi, which was a real highlight. Great experience for kids
