We called in to the Chocolate Company during our “Hooters” tour. There was quite a range of chocolate as well as knowledgeable people to talk to. The chocolate was good quality and we had pleasant afternoon teas for several days after. Worth the journey if you like your chocolate to get some real hand made gems.

I am sure you had a great time out and about with Hooters. Thank you for coming back for extra afternoon teas. We hope you took enough chocolate away with you to keep you going for some time. More

This shop has all treats to tempt the non choc types with the smell of the factory floor and the single treats to satisfy the sweet tooth

Thank you for your review. We are working on some new flavours for the gelato and sorbet range. We are adding to the items that we sell all the time. Currently have added more of the Blackball products. They make the best sausages, and black puddings. More

Overall we found the history of chocolate a fascinating read and experience, with a great learning experience for us. However, we found the store a little difficult to find using a GPS as the address in the brochure we had didn't match the actual address of the GPS coordinates listed in another brochure. We then relied on the old fashioned... More

We are really pleased you enjoyed our museum. Chocolate has been around for 3,000 years, and certainly has a wide history. Unfortunately someone changed how we were found via GPS, so now it shows as Links Road Hastings. More

Went here thinking to buy some chocolate from the factory floor at a reasonable price. Went to the shop to find the prices quite exorbitant. With a block of slightly lower quality chocolate available at Countdown for a fraction of the price, the $12.50 per 100 grams isn't worth it. The attached cafe was not much better. The menu was... We are pleased you enjoyed your time at our café, and enjoyed our friendly service. Chocolate is like wine, it has different qualities, similar to cask wine versus a top range of bottled wine. The type of chocolate normally found in the supermarket is compound, containing added fats, including palm oil. Silky Oak only use couverture chocolate which only has... More

I like chocolate, but the silky oak cafe has much more. In fact, of all things I like their homemade bread best! To me the iced chocolate is too much, but the family love it. The iced coffee is better.

Thank you for posting your review. Yes, I agree the bread is great. We now sell chutneys, and cheese (in our pantry shop)that would go with it should you decide to take some home. More

When my partner suggested we do the full tour I was a little apprehensive. After all, we had completed many a Belgium chocolate tour or tasting so NZ could be a disappointment. The cost was equivalent to all options added so if a person was familiar with the history of chocolate then you should avoid the full tour. On a... More

We call in here each time we visit Napier. So much choice, beautiful flavours. Try the Turkish Delight or get a mixed box. Staff are friendly and helpful, and you can try before you buy. There is also a section of fudge.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The chocolates are simply wonderful, after 17 years I am still the head quality controller, its a tough job. We have just opened a pantry shop on site as well, all types of yummy items, including our own Gelato, sorbets, chutneys etc. At least 90% Kiwi made products More

Love going to this place as it is a bit different with plenty of parking and in the country. It has a chocolate shop and museum. We often go for lunch or afternoon tea because of the food they sell. It is quite small so you don't want to be there if a cruise ship is in port. There is... More

Thank you for your lovely comments. We have just opened a Pantry Shop on site now, will all kinds of yummy foodie items, including a range of Silky Oak products. This should help take the pressure off everyone on cruise ship days, plus we are about to introduce some more out door seating for the cafe. Thank you again More

The cafe was awesome, fabulous service, scrumptious food.......chocolate is the answer..who cares what the question is! This would be among the best cafes, they also have a good selection of gluten free.
