Not expecting much in the way of water as it is the summer period. To my surprise there was quite a lot poring over. The central part of the river. I would expect free flowing torrents in the spring and would be a never miss then, however, because it is not in free flow you are able to walk on... More

We walked this track with our 10 and 13 year old kids and everyone agreed that this hike was not fantastic. The track does go through a couple of different ecosystems including bushy forest and mangroves. I enjoyed seeing several a variety of bird species. The waterfall at the end was okay, would probably have been better with more water... More

We were passing these falls anyway so stopped in for a look seeing as it's free and doesn't take a long time. We probably only spent 15/20 minutes at the falls. It was a nice day weather wise and it was nice to see a waterfall to break up our journey travelling. However, I have seen lots of better waterfalls... More

We went up the river by boat from the Waitangi boat ramp,so grandchildren got out and swam very close to the falls, there was a kayak tour boat there as well, so children felt safe. Very pretty spot.

The falls are really worth travelling up the river to see. Along the banks are lots of birdlife and stunning scenery. The falls can be reached by road, cruise up the Waitangi River or walk path along the banks. I did the walk path and river cruise and both offered amazing scenery.

If you ever go on the Haruru Falls and Waitangi River Tour Maori Waka remember to say "Hi" to Judy Mihaka. Here is a lady who is so very sharp, dedicated and who takes care of her customers. My tale of woe begins with me booking the tour a month before I was actually to arrive. Judy noticed this and... More

There hadn't been rain for a while when we went and people said there wouldn't be much to see but it was lovely. You can walk right down and onto the top of the falls. Lots of places to sit and have an icecream! Watched the people kayaking at the bottom - popular thing to do in these parts.

I visited here just after a cruise through the bay of islands as I had an hour spare. They are only a short drive out of Paihia (some backpackers were even walking it). The falls themselves aren't overly impressive compared to other ones in NZ, but they are very accessible.

Falls were not as good as some others that I have been to. A let down. Close to Paihia about 10 minutes drive.
