Beautiful giant sequoias and other specials in a well preserved forest, only minutes from town. There are special trails for walkers, bikers and horse lovers. . .and never do they join, so you are not impacted by the other park users. . We enjoyed this peaceful park.

So many gigantic trees towering this massive, majestic forest--beautiful! Loved the hiking along the track, which was mainly sheltered from the boiling sun in summer--cool! Happened to see a wedding at the ground which is not too far away from the i-site--romantic! The 30mins track could be great for all ages.

We did the tree-walk, the suspended walkway from the giant redwoods. It was pretty good with interesting facts presented at each of the tree platforms. However, the real highlight is the actual trails through the woods themselves. We did one about 3.5km long. The trees and ferns are magnificent and the water in the ponds is so clear, you think... Being from the USA, our guide was excited to show us these huge redwoods. If we would have had more time, we would have loved to have hiked all the trails in this area. Really a nice forest area.

Redwood forests are magical. To walk among those majestic trees is something I look forward to every time I am in California. To have had the opportunity to walk in redwoods in NZ was phenomenal. There are a number of different walks well laid-out throughout the park and all are free. There is an elevated tree walk that is expensive... More

Great day out for anyone. There's long and short walks, as well as a cafe, information centre and high ropes course. Such a beautiful place to visit.

In awe of this natural haven, watching the crystal clear water winding through the ferns and redwood trees . It was quite overwhelmingly beautiful. Some of the trees where just huge and towered above the forest floor. The tracks are well marked and graded well . Strictly no smoking rules apply within the forest to try and protect from bush fires,... More

Lovely walks, moderate in difficulty between giant redwood trees, really fantastic and enjoyable. There is a tree walk which looks good but is rather expensive at $ 15/person. They would do better to make it cheaper and more will use it.

It's not cheap ($25 pp) but was really a treat. The walk takes about 40+ minutes and is a first class operation. You walk between platforms on swing type wooden bridges. Each platform has information on the redwoods. We were there fairly early in the morning and had the walk to ourselves so we did not worry about people behind... More
