The Government house and gardens are possibly the most photographed areas in NZ. Very interesting that the government built this area.

Sadly closed due to earthquake damage. Would have been helpful to be told by the hotel and a sign at the gate rather than walking all the way to the building to find out.

We have visited the museum many times however on our recent visit in Feb 2017, the museum was closed - pending earthquake damage assessment. Its a must do when its open. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and still worth a look from the outside. Government gardens in which the building stands is ablaze with flowers and the rose garden... More

Museum is closed for the next couple of years, so I'll get back to you on this one when they let me in. Hard hat, Hi-viz and steel toecaps at the ready.

The ground is well maintained and the garden is beautiful with lots of roses. The museum is worth a visit.

Based in the Rotorua gardens, beautiful building but not much else there. We spent about a good 10 minutes there

Living in Rotorua, have been to this place a lot, but sadly because of Earthquake damage the museum is now closed for approx 2 years (End of 2018/Early 2019). Sadly could not enter the building on the day I visted. Lovely garden in front of it and only a short walk to the lake and also to town.
