Wow, what an amazing experience! Dinner was served buffet style in a room that felt communal and inclusive. We were presented with an amazing performance, that was impressive and informative. This experience is not to be missed, and is highly recommended!

We didn't know what to expect and turned up to be greeted warmly and welcomed into a lovely marquee for a drink. We were entertained by John who is funny and engaging. We were called 'the tribe of many nations' and took part in a welcoming ceremony. We watched the Maori warriors arrive by canoe and enjoyed their dancing, weapons... More

If you're like me, you've been looking at reviews of all the different Maori villages/ shows in the Rotorua region, to try and figure out which one is the best. Well, I'm sorry to say that I haven't been to all of them. I'm sure they all have pros and cons, some more than others. As for Mitai Maori village,... More

A great place to get a taste of Maori culture. The evening package was great - the music and haka performance, plus demonstrations of customs and culture, allowed for a real insight into Maori history and tradition. The food was amazing and the company friendly. Nice glow worms too. Highly recommended.

I was interested in the Maori experience before I ever made my way to NZ. Culture is so important to the history of a country. Going to the Mitai cultural experience was awesome. In a room of 150+ people, representing 15 nations, I was able to meet the Maori chief properly, on set, shook his hand and got a front... More

Reading the reviews on this attraction it appears that the level of enjoyment depends on one's perspective. This writer's experience was that it was fake and overpriced (and overly long). Aside from the narrator (who was a very proficient and interesting speaker) and the food (which was not bad but nothing to write home about) there wasn't much to justify... More

We did the evening show. Collection from hotel was efficient. Arrival welcome clear and nice. Tables set up, free glass of wine with ticket, nice touch. Food, and hangi feast reveal interesting. Food, buffet style, really nice, plentiful and good for vegetarians. Cultural performance really good ( get seats in the middle for best views. Host, talked too much and... More

Had such a nice experience. The staff were friendly and we learnt a lot about Maori culture. The hangi meal was delicious! Would definitely recommend it.

There really was very little to redeem this experience. It was a completely fake tourist ripoff. Worse, we were told (by Mitai) that it was wheelchair accessible. No, it isn't. The paths are rough as and there are no accessible toilets. The war canoe is a fake (though made for the movie "The Piano"). The canoe arrival is inaccessible and... More
