The exhibits are well displayed and give an overview of Taranaki's history. Allow half a day. And its free!

Somewhat disappointing. For all the publicity it is a bit of a let down. Does not really inspire Nd there are far better things to see around Taranaki

An interesting place, very interactive. One of the current exhibitions is about bugs which was v interesting. Also happening was a cooking demo with bugs - that was v interesting with the chef from The Larder, Miramar, Wellington

Impressed by building, and exhibitions especially New Plymouth history section. Great to have library adjacent and pleasant cafe.

Well laid out museum. It has the Taranaki information centre in the foyer. Free admission. Very close to the library and right in the CBD.

The first thing we encountered as we entered the museum was this lovely Maori woman greeting us and telling us about the different areas of the museum. The displays were really well set out and easy to read and follow. It's not a big museum but well worth going through and enjoying. kids loved it quite interactive.

Puke Ariki offers something for everyone. From young children to adults. Richmond cottage provides a view of older New Zealand. During our visit there was an exhibition about BUGS. This is brilliant, wonderful displays of history of area and life in NZ and bird/animal life. They have special displays/events downstairs at the moment it is on "Bugs" and is inter active. Amazing how many families were there at weekend. Everything in here is interesting, there is also a cafe, and gift shop.

The woman who assisted us at the information centre was very friendly and very helpful and really pointed us in the right direction to make the most of our time in New Plymouth. We returned later in the day to visit some of the exhibits in the museum sections which were quite interesting.
