Cycling through from Cumberland Street down to the Coastal Walkway is one of my favourites, listening to the Tuis warbling in the trees, in Spring the blossoms, Summer the shade and glinting stream, Autumn has colour and even Winter has beautiful sunlight on an angle...More

started from Ocean View Rd carpark and cycled all the way to Bell Block beach, it is nice route, fair bit through farmland, not all the track is close to water. We did this on a Sunday morning 08:00 and it was OK, came back...More

Unaware to be in the middle of the city, this walkway follows the river. Starting at the foreshore walkway, the walkway is very quiet, green and hidden from the houses. The crossing with Devon Road (Northgate) is made easy by a crossing under the road....More

Well maintained gravel track through the bush, enjoy the fresh air and the sound of birds. Track ends on the coastal walkway near a cafe and beach. What more could you want?

Its well worth getting your walking boots on and picking up this section of walkway as its a lovely jaunt. Although you almost creep around the back of some houses theres lots of amazing connections to the river and bush to appreciate. Well worth it.

This Magnificently glorious free walk you feel truly at one with nature. Early in the morning you hear the birds singing to each other in the trees flying over head. The streams brooks hum a tune as you walk by them. Stop look up at...More

We were advised by a local that this is the walk/cycle way that they use and enjoy the most. It is delightful, most of it in the shade as it follows the Te Henui river upstream, which you don't really notice until you get to...More

Very pleasant walk along a stream surrounded by mature trees and plants. Well maintained gravel track suitable for a buggy. Nicer than the coastal walkway in my opinion (and less crowded).

5.9 km. Council website says 2 hours return. There are multiple entry/exit points so easy to do as much or as little as you want.
