ENJOYING LAKE VIEWS.
Mar 2020
We were driven in a group with AATKings over the headland between Whakaipo Bay and Whangamata Bay to enjoy the scenic lake views and native bush.

Lovely drive out to
Whakaipo Bay Reserve, just out from Acacia bay this would be a perfect spot for the summer, beautiful beach line perfect for fishing, kayaking, swimming, BBQ you name it! And maybe a little bit of 4x4 driving again haha 😉
gotta use the land rover for what she was made to do!!

Rural bay
Jan 2020
Whakaipo Bay is a beautiful large bay some kms , from Taupo central . When the lake is too high there is lovely swimming . Whakaipo Bay is the entrance to the W2K track , this is a cycle /walking track over the hill to Kinloch . I have removed a point for the freedom campers which I find intrusive in the paddocks .

Quiet swimming spot

Hidden gem, a beautiful place to swim and relax on a hot day. There is a dirt road to reach the beach but an easy enough drive

GREAT place to camp
Jul 2019 • Family
There is so much space at Whakaipo Bay, it's a great place to camp or just visit for a picnic and walk. The lake is so clear, good spot for summer swimming. WE camped there last weekend in our motorhome and had a great time, even in winter. A treasure.

Lovely bay, great swimming
Mar 2019 • Couples
This bay is really lovely, crystal clear water though not cold and very safe for swimming. Very few people on this large beach (tiny stones, not sand) - we literally had it to ourselves.
The road down is unpaved (from the Mapara Road) for about 2km which was a bit bouncy in a 7.3 mt motorhome but very accessible. Well with the visit

Stunning picturesque bay. Great place to spend the day. Park close to waters edge. Great for swimming, sunbathing, walking and enjoying the stunning scenery of the bay.

Beautiful peaceful spot
Dec 2018 • Couples
WE camped there in our motorhome for 3 nights just before Xmas and there was hardly anyone there. Lots of space to camp it's a DOC site and reserve. The lake is so clear and beautiful surrounding bush.

Great big bay easy to get to by both car and boat. Lots of beach to be private. Clear water, nice bush walks nearby.
