Took a spontaneous trip to Huka Falls with family one afternoon. Had the best time. Although you can't do much but view the waterfalls, it was still worth making the trip for. Such beauty and power, one can't help but be humbled by nature's grandeur.

Hula falls is a must see if you visit Taupo. It is beautiful. And the other thing is it is only 2.5 km from the city centre and is easily accessible

Haka Falls. The start of the Mighty Waikato River. I love this place and it's a free attraction too. A must see when in the Taupo area. Do it!
