Both exhibitions very well done. Both very pertinent to New Zealand residents. First Gallipoli. The loss of life on both sides is a testament to the folly of war. The exhibit takes you through the day to day life of the NZ troops over 7 months of ultimately fruitless campaigning in ww 1 in turkey. The geology exhibit devoted the... More

Te Papa is not a museum I warmed too. Except for the small selection of contemporary art on the top floor, I found most of the exhibits unappealing and a bit dated in presentation. I think part of the problem is the building which has all the charm of a shopping centre and is very confusing to navigate.

This is a must for everyone who visits Wellington. Your only problem will be that you will end up speding a lot more time than you had originally planned. Great, interactive exhibits, a lot can be learned about the natural and social history of New Zealand.

Lots to see and do here, take a couple of hours just to really take it all in and appreciate it. Could get a little confusing at times, it seemed like some of the exhibits were just randomly next to each other without a purpose but all of it was very interesting, learnt a lot about New Zealand here

OK, it's free. You can come and go at your pleasure. And a pleasure it is. It is HUGE and FULL of excellent, beautiful and educational displays. Parts of it, of course, are downright religious with regard to Maori culture. No photos there. Might need to take off your shoes so wear slides. Guides are great. Take A tour. If... More

This museum was awesome.. The walk to get there was great by the harbor.. lots to see and eat.. The large statues were very magnificent but can also be almost overwhelming if you have anxiety you may want to skip this one.

I joined Introducing Te Papa tour and Maori Highlights Tour. Each of the guides had their own style and shared their own personal stories. I was captivated. These were wonderful experience for me and I definitely recommend both of the tours. Te Papa is huge, the first impression can be overwhelming and it is easy to get lost and tired.... More
