We visited especially to see this exhibition. A friend told me she has been three times, and keeps seeing different things. I can well imagine that to be true. The models were outstanding, from the "worn" leather boots to the "sweat" on the brows. There was lots and lots of written information, and you could be here for many hours.... More

We had limited time and I wanted to visit the Gallipoli display. This was extremely moving and exceptionally well done. It is hard to describe this display without saying see it for yourself. We were there for over an hour just on this display and could have stayed longer. The rest of the museum was good as well, but we... More

My husband visited this museum over ten years ago and said it was excellent and somewhere we must go while staying in Wellington. We spent about two hours there and were both disappointed. It's in a lovely building in a good waterside location. The museum had a few areas awaiting new displays so perhaps we didn't see it at its... More

Wow this was bigger than we realized! Lol. Had to stop for lunch to top up our reserves ha ;) We had a great time here and there was certainly lots to see. Really beautiful place and the different area's are well planned and layed out to create interest in themselves. Some great interactives, something for everyone, spend an afternoon... More

Food and beverage quality was average at best, but the prices were very high. Navigating the cafe wasn't entirely easy as there were no clear signs to indicate how to order, etc. Next time I'd go to a cafe in town first.

We are often visiting New Zealand from the UK to see relatives and friends and finally made time to go to Te Papa. And it was worth it! We booked on a museum tour and had a wonderful guide who wove her tales, stories and knowledge through every part of the tour. Its most definitely worth taking a tour first... More

Second time here; last time was four years ago. Went here this time specifically for the Galipoli exhibition, which was absolutely mind-blowing. There was a queue to enter and it was definitely packed with people once you get inside, but once you go past the initial section, the crowd becomes more manageable. The exhibition was so well-planned and well-crafted. Of... More

My 6 yr old and I spent the entire day here. We paid for a 60 min tour and the Bug Lab. I recommend both. She loved the Bug Lab. Extraordinary exhibit of the NZ WWI involvement. Very interactive museum so my 6 yr old stayed engaged. We skipped the art level because my kid wasn't interested and it's not... More

This is a very good museum with modern well thought out exhibits and display information. The Gallipoli exhibition is truly remarkable and very worthwhile queuing to see. It tells the history of the Anzacs involved in the disastrous Gallipoli campaign via individuals who are each represented by 2xlifesize models, which are incredibly realistic. They were made by the same workshop... More
