The breathtaking views and bush-clad valleys of Belmont Regional Park make it a favourite open space for walking, running, mountain biking and horse riding. Located in the hill country between Porirua and the Hutt Valley, the park features the historic Korokoro Dam, World War II ammunition stores and the original main coach road from Wellington. Boulder Hill has sweeping views over Porirua Harbour, the Lower Hutt valley and the remnants of ancient boulder block fields.

Dogs are not permitted in the farmed areas of Belmont Regional Park.

Belmont is one of the most beautiful parks in Wellington. We did the 27km track which was challenging, but as there was no hiking, we managed it at around 4 hours. You will get lots of photo shooting opportunities and the scenery is just amazing. You can either take the bus or the train to get there.

This is probably the best regional park in Wellington. Amazing and varied scenery and is easily accessible. Highly recommend Boulder Hill & Belmont Trig

This is a great natural resource for the Hutt Valley, with open farm land and native bush. Walking up to the trig is a nice afternoon climb, and there are a small, but growing number of mountain bike trails being built.
