We were in Akaroa in Feb this year. We loved the town, very quaint and peaceful. The old London bus was so much fun. We climbed hills with the driver changing gears constantly. We had a commentary of were we were and the history of the area. We arrived at an old pub before returning. The pub was just like... More

Traveling in this old double decker english bus and seeing the village from hight view, was interesting, we went all the way to the highest Akaroa point to be amazed by the views of the bay, village, stop for a cop of coffee enjoying the scenario.

We did this tour from a cruise ship and embarked the old (but reconditioned) London bus from the end of the tender jetty at Akaroa NZ. The driver took us around the bays and up the mountains to the Hilltop Hotel where we stopped for a coffee break and photo opportunities. The view of the extinct crater was superb. The... More

The driver and 'co-host' were a good way of presenting this area to us - you certainly get the feel that kiwis love their country and know a lot about it. When we stopped at the Hilltop the driver offered to take pictures of those who wished to be immortalized in front of his DBLDKA. His driving was smooth and... More

Banks peninsula is a special part of New Zealand. Often overlooked as it is a side journey from the main tourist routes, it is a gem. Formed by two volcanoes it is surrounded by numerous bays and a fascinating European and Maori history. Wonderful scenery, great accommodation, enticing cafes, adventurous pursuits

This tour was splendid. The Gods ordained a perfect sun- draped morning for the tour around the many small bays and indented coastline. This is the magnificent Banks Peninsula. Ensconced on the southern side,in a harbor created when an extinct volcano collapsed into the sea, nestles the village of Akaroa. The approach from the water is hypnotizing. The whole trip was...
