Was a lovely relaxing hour. So much beautiful flowers and trees. Very knowledgeable host who loved to share her love and passion for the gardens, we were on the 3.30pm tour the last one of the day and only ones on our tour , so it was a very up close personal tour where our host volunteered on many occasions... The botanical gardens has a wonderful caterpillar that will take you all over the gardens. It stops at several key spots but lets you see the overall scenery then you can go back to where you want.

I took my mother - who needs a wheelchair - for an outing on a beautiful sunny day. The gardens were superb especially the rose gardens which look magnificent in full bloom. The downside was pushing a wheelchair on the gravel paths - not an easy task, and I am fitter and stronger than many others that need to do... More

This was one of the most beautiful gardens I have visited in a while. Such a wide variety and wonderful conditions for growth. I just wish that there were more labels on the plants.

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens is one of many small parks, nook gardens and stream green belts in the city. The Botanic Gardens is by far the largest and requires a half day or more to see everything. The highlight for me was the huge trees of many types through out the gardens. What is surprising is the size of the... More

Simply beautiful. We went through the gardens several times for different reasons over our 4 day visit & enjoyed each visit. Also caught the 'green caterpillar' tour which was great. The driver/guide really seemed to know the history & plants. Have always & will always visit the gardens when I'm in Christchurch.

My friend and I strolled around while waiting for the information centre to open. Very well planned and maintained, there is a lot to see and lots of beautiful spots for a sit down or even a picnic! A great place to walk around and learn a few plant names while you're at it.

If you have even a passing interest in plants then this has something for you - a huge variety of environments in a wonderful and large setting. A couple of very nice cafes and shops within the boundaries. Scheduled guided walks but we didn't bother with those - it is such a nice place to just wander around. Well signed... More

Lovely interesting well maintained gardens. Excellent signage and plant identification. Loved the conservatories and rose gardens. Busy cafe and shop. Definately worth a stroll.
