As locals we've visited the Canterbury Museum countless times, especially given that it is so handy to other attractions such as the Arts Centre and Botanical gardens. We visited this time because we were aware that it had a display of the top National Geographic...More

Came across the museum after walking through Hagley park. Lots to see and do for people of all ages. The Antarctic exhibition and the World War1 exhibition were superb. Lots of different rooms with plenty to explore.

Thought provoking well balanced view of life in the Christchurch and surrounding areas, from pioneering times right through to the 21st century. An excellent venue for the whole family. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

We really enjoyed this Museum. It was a great time waster.there were plenty of things to look at and the children especially loved the kids room! We spent about an hour in there. Fantastic that you can enjoy it at no charge.

What a great museum. First of all it is free. 2 big floors, we were in there for over an hour, easily could have been 2 hours. A must stop. Then you can walk the Botanical gardens, or just kick back and watch people.

For a main attraction in the country’s second largest city this museum could try to be more engaging. With the exception of the First World War exhibition most of the exhibitions are static and poorly presented. The Canterbury Street scene could be brought alive very...More
