It is a short ride. While the view is OK, there is no reason to stay long and it is a 15 min drive from town. Probably worth it with the Christchurch pass.

We didn’t realize we could have just hiked up to the top. The hike looked rather easy and would have saved some money. We also didn’t realize when we bought our tickets that we had to pay extra for the shuttle - $10/person each way!...More

Loved the Gondola ride, it was an overcast day but the gondola was still fun. The staff at the cafe were very uninspired and quite unfriendly which soured the day a little. Will try again on our next visit for better views
