Pretty river walks and runs

I take a run or walk along the river regularly, it's so pretty when it's sunny and warm. Hiring a kayak for a few hours is good fun too!

Absolute bliss going punting and the punters work very hard to ensure a leisurely trip for us. Thoroughly enjoyed this outing.

The Avon river is like a breath of fresh air in the mostly destroyed city of Christchurch. It's peaceful and very pretty. We spent some time playing 'pooh sticks' on one of the many bridges that crosses over the Avon. Certainly a good way to spend a sunny afternoon wandering along the river and through the nearby botanical gardens.

Saw many areas of the Avon river as we walked around the Christchurch city. Lovely setting with seating. You can go punting on the river but we ran out of time.

Stepping back in time you can take a punt from short walking distance from Cathedral Square and get a unique insight into the timeless envrionment of Christchurch. Punt locations are well marked and on most days wel supplied with vendors in the summer months.

Loved this punt ride with our driver, George. Was very relaxing and peaceful and a little trip back in time. The River Avon flows threw the beautiful Botanic Gardens where you can see lots of spectacular plants and bird life. A must in Christchurch for the whole family. Wished it went further.

The avon runs through Christchurch and it makes for a lovely riverside walk. In the sunshine stop and soak up some relaxation. City dwellers and visitors enjoy a picnic by the river. You can also punt on the river if the fancy takes you. The rebuilding of Christchurch means that some sections may be closed off so be prepared to... More

Wandering around the banks of the river or stream sized river is very pleasant, plenty of punters and paddlers on some stretches and loads of wildlife to see.

Punting down the Avon was immensely relaxing - all you have to do is sit back, relax, and watch the ducks, look out for the odd fish. The fellow punting your boat is dressed in Edwardian style and is usually very handsome. Only don't be tricked by the brochure photos - you aren't in a punt by yourselves, you'll be... More

A punt along the Avon river is not to be missed and is a great way to see Christchurch. Recommend a slow inspection of all the houses and views around.
