Good on a wet day

I enjoyed it, it was a wet day so I got a beer and went along. It it a great insight to Fiordland and of course you see more than you might if you have a limited time.

This theater and its movie about Fjordlands National Park was recommended as I checked in to my hotel-and I'm so glad I took their advice. The 30 minute film-Ata Whenua-was created from footage shot over months and months via helicopter. You'll see many areas you wouldn't even see on a longer hike, really a must see while in Te Anau.... It was a miserable wet day when we arrived in Te Anau so we thought we would pay a visit to the cinema to watch ATA Whenua. What a lovely little cinema with very comfortable seats and friendly staff. We conveniently arrived in time for happy hour and took our drinks into the film. The film itself was quite spectacular... More

Went to the cinema to watch the Ata Whenua movie and wow! It's a simply breath taking piece of cinematography. After visiting Milford sound its nice to spot landmarks you recognise and remember you really went there. Cinema itself is very nice with big chairs

Don't get me wrong, it's worth the 9NZD to see this. The cinema is modern and comfortable while the movie views are fantastic. The sound system is also fantastic, but the sounds during the film somewhat ruined it for both my wife and I. The music is touted as great in advertisements, but it doesn't fit the flow of the... Grab a beer and catch a show in this cool movie theatre that shows major feature films as well as a local production of a spectacular movie of Fiordland National Park. The Fiordland film is about 30 mins long, costs $10, and is worth the time and expense. The Theatre also has a funky bar attached (Black Dog Bar) that... More

We really enjoyed this movie--really a spiritual experience. Since our short visit to Te Anau didn't allow time for extensive hiking or a trip to Milford or Doubtful Sound, we particularly enjoyed seeing so much beautiful scenery on film.

We went to seeTe Ata Whenua - Shadowland DVD on the advice of locals. The cinema is casual, not expensive and you can take drinks in. The seats are comfortable with a shelf for your glass. The DVD was sensational - views of New Zealand from a helicopter. There was no commentary and no need as the views spoke for... More

The cinema is equipped with large comfortable armchairs. We were able to bring our drinks from the bar to our seats in the cinema. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The film is worth every penny. It's simply beautiful and breath taking. May be it could nice to know where exactly this was filmed
