Take a brisk dip - there's hot showers

Just popping through on way to Sydney. Beautiful historic baths. Kept clean and the bottom is sandy. Quite shallow so good for the oldies too who walk in it for exercise.

Something for everyone. From a Tide pool for a curious kid, to an enclosed beach for small kids, a saltwater ocean pool, change rooms and showers and beautiful views including a local dolphin pod. Loved this place, could have spent a couple days here!

The ocean baths are a highlight of Newcastle in my opinion. I am a little bias though as I'm a lap swimmer. So wonderful to do my laps in salt water with few others around and fish to watch as I swim.

Even though the baths are over a hundred old they are well maintained. Emptied and cleaned once a week keeps them clean. Also at high tide the seawater splashes over the wall so it always sea water you are swimming in. There are three pools. One with marked lanes for the more accomplished swimmers, one very large one for the... More

Made the 40 degree heatwave just dissolve away. The water is freshened by the ocean. The bottom is sandy and you can stand in it. Lovely heritage look and view is amazing.

Relaxing and refreshing way to spend an hour on a very hot day. Good parking nearby and free to the public, this is a well maintained ocean bath, large enough to accommodate a large number of people.

If you like a pool or a beach this place has everything. My 9 and 11 year olds enjoyed the pool as it was big and deep enough to jump into, while my 6 year old enjoyed the beach. I could see all three of them at once.

Free baths with a coffee shop on site. Large pool with separate lap pool, paddling pool and patrolled beach nearby making it easy to accommodate different ages. Ladies toilets were limited in number and one was completely disgusting with no indication of when it would be cleaned. Changing rooms were large and airy with good showers

How wonderful to find these old 1950's style baths still in operation and so well preserved. There is plenty of room for so many people of all ages. The water was so clean. The huge dressing rooms and shower block was still in as it was back in the 50's. There are life-savers on duty and plenty of seating and... More
