We had been to the Art Gallery and were just walking by when we started a conversation with the minister. He invited us in and was very generous with his time pointing out areas of interest and telling us some history. I am not religious...More

This is a beautiful building, sitting above Civic Park. It is an active place of worship, and not primarily a tourist destination. As such, it is only open during the hours of worship. However, it is worth walking by to have a look. To make...More

Happened upon this church being open when had been at Olive Tree Markets. So glad as had read about it being a bit of a Newie icon. Lovely to have a look inside.

The Baptist Tabernacle is a beautiful architecturally historic building which unfortunately can only be viewed from the outside.

Lovely building but the offices below need to be upgraded and modernized. Other than that, a lovely place to visit. Parking is a pain.

The Baptist Tabernacle in Newcastle overlooks the Civic Park. The building is a typical Tabernacle building. A nice building dominated by pillars across the front, it appears that the church is only open for Sunday services, which detracts from its value as an attraction.
